The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 Β£ per year.

Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Lead your duties include bladder & bowel continence assessment and urology or stoma appliance reviews. You will provide advice on appropriate care routines and products, working within a number of NHS trusts or Spinal units. Primarily Southern based role with the main function of developing business in Spinal Injury Units and Neurological key accounts. Area to cover - London Greater Area.

Key responsibilities:

  • To be an integral part of the Select support home delivery service.
  • Initiates treatments or interventions as agreed by referring NHS Trust.
  • Follow-up and carry out continence referrals where appropriate.
  • Maintains hands on clinical practice.
  • Establishes, develops and maintains relationships with local bladder & bowel nurse specialists in designated region.
  • Works in partnership with local sales representatives to support Select service provision in hospital & community.
  • Works alongside SCI key account Manager.
  • Work alongside Select customer service team and Customer Operations Manager to develop and enhance customer service provision.
  • To follow the guidelines set out for a band 6 bladder/bowel nurse.
  • Provides specialist continence support in SCI, MS, Urology & Gynaecology.
  • To teach formally & informally within clinical area to Wellspect HealthCare staff or Trust staff as required.
  • To drive the role forward in an imaginative and innovative fashion.
  • To work alongside the sales team in order to develop strong business relationships in these key accounts/units and maximise the awareness of Wellspect HealthCare and its products.
  • To develop & be accountable for a helpline for patients discharged into community from these key accounts.
  • To work in partnership with Associations & Charities to position Wellspect HealthCare as the leading company for products & support for all patients performing Intermittent Catheterisation and TAI.

Requirements:

  • NHS Specialist Nurse Band 6.
  • NMC registered.
  • Minimum 2 years Urology Nursing experience within the field of Urology or continence, or able to demonstrate evidence of equivalent knowledge and understanding.
  • Specialist knowledge of working within SCI and MS disease areas.
  • Knowledge of RCN/NICE guidelines & Essence of Care Benchmarks, MASCIP Bowel Management guidelines, NHS plan and experience of auditing.
  • Ability to teach patients, colleagues and NHS staff both formally and informally.
  • Adhere to NMC/RCN guidelines for professional practice and Wellspect HealthCare internal policies.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Able to challenge and inspire others.
  • Effective decision maker and problem solving ability.
  • Ability to relate well to patients and relatives and other members of the teams.
  • Ability to plan own workload and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Word and Excel.
