Wells Fargo is looking for a Capital Markets Middle Office Specialist to join the London Trade Support team, which covers a variety of asset classes including Rates, FX, Credit, Repo, and Treasury functions. This role involves collaborating closely with the Front Office, Finance, US Documentation, Operations/Settlements teams, ensuring timely booking of all activities, trade enrichment when needed, and facilitating smooth settlement and reporting processes. The position also entails active engagement with Sales, Finance, Compliance, Technology, COO Teams, and other global Middle Office teams on a daily basis. As part of the control function, it is crucial for team members to operate in a controlled manner to mitigate risks and adhere to procedures consistently. The Middle Office Function places a high emphasis on Operational Risk and Audit sensitivity. Furthermore, the role includes participation in Front Office projects, process enhancements, and providing support to other Middle Office teams globally, such as in Hong Kong and the US, as necessary. Collaboration with Technology and other Middle Office units is integral for operational efficiency and ongoing improvements.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide full trade support cover for all traders/sales teams in a controlled manner by following all MO procedures.
  • Have a high level of attention to detail to ensure all trades checked before verified on trade date.
  • Intra-day Risk and P&L reporting, investigation of discrepancies between reported and posted P&L.
  • Monitoring of daily trading exception reports.
  • Monitoring and resolution of OPICS trades that need repair.
  • Resolution of trade queries.
  • Assist with front to back reconciliations.
  • Assisting treasury desk in Liquidity Management and Funding.
  • Work closely with Settlements/Payments functions.
  • Liaise with Risk and Product Control Departments to resolve any discrepancies between Middle Office and other reports produced elsewhere.
  • Client Derivatives Documentation coordination.
  • Participation in system upgrades/testing.
  • Act as the link between business requirements and technology solutions.
  • Ensure all Initiatives are captured on the teams BOW and is updated at all times.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong academic background and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in FX/Rates Cash Securities and OTC Derivatives Middle Office including Treasury functions.
  • Solid understanding of FX given the close collaboration with sales and trading in managing trade amendments and cancellations.
  • Ability to work with the settlements team for activities related to trade amendments to facilitate settlement of the trade.
  • Ability to monitor exceptions to the trade flow cycle in the FX processing system of records.
  • Excellent Markitwire experience essential, the ability to build a ticket from scratch and enrich where appropriate.
  • Analytical with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good understanding of trade lifecycle across the Rates and FX (including NFD Fixings).
  • Excellent understanding of life cycle knowledge of Cash Securities and OTC products (CDS).
  • Good Settlement knowledge across DTC, Fed, E/C and Clearstream.
  • Ability to work across multiple regions.
  • Experience with systems such as TOMS/OPICS/CALYPSO/GSF/CATALYST/MARKITWIRE.
  • Advanced Excel and VBA experience.
  • Confident and able to work under pressure of a trading floor and deliver on strict deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills to help close out issues.
  • Experience of change management.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Proactive and the ability to take ownership and lead initiatives/projects to close.
  • Team Player with good communication skills and demonstrate a high level of transparency towards working as one strong team.
