Our Wellpets branch is based in Cwmbran, a well-connected town offering easy access to local amenities, green spaces, and excellent transport links. Newport is just 10-15 minutes away, with Cardiff within easy reach, making it an ideal base whether you prefer city life, coast or countryside. If you're looking to relocate, we can support the right candidate with a relocation allowance of up to £8,000 to help make your move as easy as possible.

The practice is well equipped to support excellent clinical standards and confident decision-making, with modern, in-house facilities including:

  • Comprehensive laboratory equipment, including biochemistry and haematology analysers, SNAP test reader, centrifuge, microscope, haematocrit testing and Diff-Quick staining
  • Advanced diagnostic and monitoring tools such as ultrasound, Doppler blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximetry, multiparameter monitoring and a Bair Hugger warming system
  • A fully equipped dental suite, including a dental machine and dental X-ray
  • Digital X-ray facilities for high-quality imaging and diagnostics

As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload. You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you. We genuinely value work-life balance and are happy to tailor rota patterns to suit your lifestyle.

We can offer:

  • Full-time hours, up to 40 hours per week
  • Part-time hours, including short days and later start times
  • 1 in 5 Saturdays (negotiable)
  • No out-of-hours requirements

You are a confident and motivated Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys working as part of a team and is committed to delivering high-quality patient and client care. You’ll bring:

  • A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues
  • A proactive approach to learning, with openness to feedback and development
  • Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
