Role introduction: Based in Belfast, our client - a thriving Civil Engineering contractor specialising in the utilities sector - is seeking a permanent Site Supervisor / Foreman to support the delivery of a long-term programme of work across the Greater Belfast Area and South Down. Role overview: You will take day-to-day ownership of site delivery across a long-term programme of water and wastewater works, supporting sewer network upgrades and water rehabilitation projects throughout the Greater Belfast Area and South Down. Based from Belfast with minimal travel, you'll coordinate multiple site squads, ensure works are delivered safely, to specification and programme, and maintain strong communication with the wider site management team. The role also involves monitoring costs, tracking changes, and providing estimates as required, while contributing to the successful delivery of water main maintenance/minor works and sewer rehabilitation/maintenance packages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day site operations on water main maintenance/minor works and sewer rehabilitation/maintenance packages
- Lead and coordinate multiple squads, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to programme
- Interface closely with the site management team to support delivery on a long-term programme of works
- Ensure works are delivered to required quality and specification, including water and wastewater standards
- Maintain site safety compliance, including briefings, permits, and adherence to relevant site certifications and procedures
- Monitor costs, track changes/variations, and support the preparation of estimates as required
- Carry out or oversee setting out and level checks where required, including use of laser levels and pipe lasers (where applicable)
- Record site progress and report updates, issues, and resource needs to the wider project team
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Site Supervisor / Foreman (or Site Engineer stepping into supervision) on utility/civil engineering projects, supervising multiple squads
- Previous water and/or wastewater experience (e.g., water main maintenance/minor works, sewer rehabilitation/maintenance)
- Strong site coordination skills, working closely with the site management team to deliver programme requirements
- Ability to monitor costs, track changes and support estimates as works progress
- Relevant site safety qualifications/certification (e.g., CSR/SAFEPASS/CSCS Card, Site Safety for Supervisors, First Aid at Work)
Desirable:
- Third-level qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Civil Engineering, Construction Management)
- Temporary Works qualification (or willingness to complete training)
- Experience taking levels and using laser levels/pipe lasers
