Our Client offers an opportunity for a Junior Civil Estimator to join a team of enthusiastic civil engineers, specialising in the delivery of civils infrastructure and building projects across multi-utility and engineering sectors, for a range of government agencies, local authorities and blue chip industry clients. Providing Design & Project Management, Construction, Testing & Commissioning with a young, mobile, trained and committed workforce. Based in Downpatrick, the majority of projects lie within the Belfast to Dublin corridor (Leinster and Ulster).
Key Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will work with the QS team and Civils Contracts Managers to review projects at tender stage, prepare quotes, maintain unit pricing database, provide βtake-offsβ, create and maintain pricing templates for BBQ, organise sub-contractor documentation, visit site as required.
- Depending on experience, additional duties will include pricing of temporary works, significant contribution to tendering frameworks and capital works projects, review tenders submitted, seeking feedback and introducing improvements.
To be considered for this role you will have:
- Demonstrate a good understanding of civil engineering and have gained some formal or informal industry experience (site, design or project management).
- Demonstrate ability to assess project risks and feel confident liaising with the Design Team.
- AutoCAD and Estimating software, training shall be provided.
- IT competent (Microsoft suite), desire to learn and develop skills within Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Strong communication and social skills.
- A good understanding of construction programmes would be a strong plus.
