Civil Resident Engineer - Water / Wastewater Location: Cork Sector: Water / Wastewater / Civil Engineering Employment Type: Permanent Salary: €65,000 - €70,000 plus vehicle and fuel card Role Introduction and Overview An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Civil Resident Engineer Water / Wastewater to work with a leading global engineering consultancy supporting major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the Cork region. This position offers the chance to play a key role in the supervision of the delivery of essential safety systems at a number of water / wastewater sites within the region. Working within the water / wastewater and civil engineering sector, you will collaborate closely with Uisce Éireann (UE), Local Authorities, design teams, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all contractual and regulatory requirements. As the Resident Engineer, you will provide on-site leadership across a programme of water / wastewater site safety improvement works, taking responsibility for site supervision, stakeholder coordination, technical reviews, reporting, and project close-out activities. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced civil engineering professional seeking a varied and rewarding role with significant regional impact. Key Responsibilities as Civil Resident Engineer Water / Wastewater Supervise and manage water / wastewater site safety system installations across the Cork region. Work closely with regional contractors to ensure works are delivered in accordance with contract requirements and legislative obligations. Liaise with Local Authorities, Uisce Éireann (UE), design teams, and project stakeholders to maintain effective coordination and project progress. Process work orders and manage service request approvals throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct HSQE audits, monitor site safety performance, and proactively address any health, safety, quality, and environmental issues. Maintain and update project trackers, records, schedules, and supporting documentation. Review and approve as-built drawings, technical submissions, and project deliverables. Undertake pre-construction site inspections to identify potential risks and provide practical feedback to design teams. Plan, attend, and contribute to project meetings with contractors and key stakeholders. Produce accurate progress reports, maintain project records, and manage snagging activities through to project sign-off. Respond to customer and stakeholder queries or complaints in a professional and timely manner. Provide regular progress updates, technical feedback, and recommendations to regional management teams and Uisce Éireann representatives.Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience as Resident Engineer (Wastewater) Third-level qualification in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Minimum of 5 -7 years' post-graduate experience within civil engineering projects, involving wastewater or water sites. Strong technical knowledge of safety systems used, including handrails, covers, grid flooring etc. Proven ability to prepare clear technical reports and maintain accurate project records and documentation. Comprehensive understanding of Health & Safety regulations, site procedures, and HSQE requirements. Experience monitoring site activities and resolving HSQE-related issues effectively. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, approvals, trackers, and project documentation. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working alongside contractors, Local Authorities, utility providers, and design teams. Full flexibility to travel throughout the Cork region as required.
