Are you a Civil Engineering or Construction Management Graduate with experience in the roads / highways sector? This is an exciting opportunity to work as an Assistant Project Manager on a number of PFI projects in Belfast and the surrounding area, providing technical, managerial and administrative support to the Project Management Team, delivering both Road and Schools Infrastructure Management PFI Projects.

WPR is partnering with a global consultancy, their Infrastructure Management team has successfully developed, delivered, invested in and operated some of the most demanding public private partnerships in the UK. Due to their success they are seeking to add an Assistant Project Manager to the team in Belfast to deliver NI based projects.

As Assistant Project Manager your key responsibilities will be supporting the Project Managers during the following:

  • Client meetings and interface with Contractors and Design Teams
  • Life cycle review and project planning
  • Site inspections, supervision and reporting
  • Procurement support, contract assessment and reviews
  • Maintaining management systems, auditing and file management
  • General assistance/support to PMs

As Assistant Project Manager your key attributes and experience will include:

  • A third level qualification in a Civil Engineering, Construction Management related subject.
  • At least one year experience working on civil engineering or construction projects (this can include a placement year), site based environment or consultancy.
  • Capable of interpreting and understanding contractual issues and undertake contractual reviews.
  • A good communicator capable of building relationships and have the ambition to pursue a career in project management, chairing meetings and negotiating solutions.
  • An analytical approach capable of maintaining, implementing and auditing management systems.
  • Able to maintain familiarity with all issues to enable this person to deputise for the Project Manager as requested.
  • SHEQ experience would be desirable, training will be given.
  • Experience of working on Roads / Highways projects would be desirable.

The successful candidate will be assessed for training needs specific to the role and career development. A path to chartership will be encouraged. Appropriate training to ensure a high level of Health & Safety and Quality knowledge will be provided as necessary.
