Role introduction and overview:
Exciting opportunity for an experienced General Manager, responsible for the day-to-day leadership and performance of mechanical and electrical engineering business. This is a senior management opportunity suited to a commercially focused leader with experience in contracting and service environments, ideally water, wastewater, pumping, treatment systems, wet infrastructure, industrial services or related technical engineering markets. Our client operates as an end-to-end solutions provider supplying high-quality equipment and services across Ireland and the wider European data centre market. The business supports clients across the municipal, industrial and agri/commercial sectors, including areas such as local authority, food and beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, data centre and renewables. Reporting directly to the overall Group Company Director, the successful candidate will play a central role in delivering operational performance, commercial and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities as General Manager:
- Lead the day-to-day running of all business activities across the organisation
- Lead continued sustainable growth across the key business units of Sales, Contracting and Service
- Develop and implement business strategies aligned with company objectives and contribute to the development of future business plans
- Maintain a strong commercial focus, understanding the needs of both operations and senior management
- Review company controls regularly and ensure the accuracy of operational and business reporting
- Prepare and present monthly business performance reports to the overall Group Board
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, working capital management and variance analysis across the business
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience as General Manager:
- Minimum 7/8 years' experience in a senior-level role
- Strong background in business operations with a sound understanding of standards, concepts and practical application
- Demonstrable experience in a contracting, service or finance focused role
- Proven leadership capability with the ability to communicate effectively, lead teams and manage performance
- Strong commercial awareness and an operationally focused mindset
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess performance and support decision-making
- Capacity to manage complex challenges, competing priorities and business deadlines effectively
