JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a candidate for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Research Technology team within Investment Technology. You will work closely with other members of IT including other developers, business analysts, and QA engineers to design, develop, test, implement, and support solutions to meet business requirements, and will also interact with members of our Investment Platform in architecting world-class research and collaboration capabilities.

In this role, you will help drive the integration of Generative AI (GenAI) and large language models (LLM) into investment research processes and workflows. This includes contributing to systems that leverage LLM-powered reasoning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), enterprise-scale knowledge management, and intelligent automation to enhance research depth, improve discovery of information, and streamline the flow of insights across the investment lifecycle.

You will be faced with compelling challenges and encouraged to solve problems by using innovative techniques. You will work with and learn from exceptional technology and business professionals through cross-platform, data-driven projects and assignments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality investment research and solutions, including participating in architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment and support.
  • Work with business teams, engineers and business analysts to review and qualify business requirements, functional specifications, use cases, and test plans.
  • Participate in creation of new prototypes and develop new software components based on functional specifications across the full stack – services, web and mobile clients, infrastructure and back-end.
  • Coordinate with analysts, engineers, and QE resources to execute test plans and provide support during user acceptance testing.
  • Modify and enhance existing systems to incorporate new functionality and to optimize for performance and maintainability.
  • Author technical design and support documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years demonstrated experience designing and developing web applications and services using JavaScript or other relevant enterprise technologies (e.g., Java, .Net).
  • 5 years demonstrated experience designing and developing complex web services using REST, TypeScript, JavaScript/NodeJS, Jest, Java, Python or related technologies.
  • 5 years demonstrated experience designing and developing web applications using HTML5, CSS and modern UI frameworks such as React or Angular.
  • Experience with modern software development and testing methodologies such as Artifactory, GIT, and Jenkins CI.
  • Experience developing applications with AWS cloud technologies.
  • Intermediate-level experience with SQL.
  • Experience with various software development methodologies, such as Agile.
  • Familiarity leveraging AI in SDLC.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a non-technical audience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex concepts and to learn quickly.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively in a business-critical production environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability and willingness to work in an energetic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • BS or BA degree in computer science, math, physics, statistics or another related subject.
  • Experience in a relevant financial domain is a plus.

The base salary range for this position is: USD 80,000 - 150,000. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.

Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/or Incentives, if eligible.
