We are seeking to recruit an Equity Research Associate (RA) to join our Global Industry Research Property Team. With over $19B invested in property stocks around the world, across over 85 Portfolio Managers and approximately 350 companies, the Research Associate will focus on analyzing public companies in the European and Asia Pacific property sectors. Working closely with a senior Global Industry Analyst, the role involves coverage of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), real estate developers, and other property-related companies across both developed and emerging markets. The ideal candidate is a self-directed, hard-working team player with a passion for property markets and the investment management industry. This position is based in London; however, we may consider candidates based in Boston open to relocating to London or Asia in the future.

Responsibilities for this position will include the following:

  • Maintaining the integrity of industry and comparative valuation models;
  • Performing continuous due diligence on property companies spanning the breadth of the sector;
  • Building and maintaining company financial models on prospective investments;
  • Completing complex analytical projects under tight time constraints;
  • Staying abreast of relevant company and industry materials and communications;
  • Working to identify emerging research trends and novel and investable developments;
  • Maintain risk models for long-only and long/short portfolios.

  • Analytical acumen and passion for markets - The ideal candidate will have superior financial modeling skills, strong analytical capabilities, and an eagerness to apply their expertise in support of Wellington's property investing.
  • Superior collaboration skills - The Research Associate will be a self-directed, hard-working team player, who contributes to the research efforts of the property Global Industry Analyst.
  • Growth mindset - The flexibility and openness to continue learning, evolving, and growing as a Research Associate is important.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 2 years of previous investment experience, ideally within a Long/Short (L/S) framework.
  • An understanding of risk and risk-based tools beneficial;
  • Experience covering the property sector in sell-side equity research, investment banking, private equity, or buy-side roles.
  • Financial modeling ability;
  • Aptitude for building investment science skill set through interest in the intersection of science and investing;
  • Strong data and technology skills, including experience using platforms and tools to screen, rank, and manage large stock universes.
  • Sound judgment, strong work ethic and highest personal and professional integrity;
  • Demonstrated analytical ability;
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in the face of uncertainty;
  • Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize time well;
  • Strict attention to detail;
  • Effective communications skills, both written and verbal;
  • Superior academic credentials and track record, an undergraduate degree is required; progress with CFA/CAIA levels is additive.
  • European and/or Japanese language skills are considered highly beneficial.
