Your Mission…
As Head of Infrastructure & Cloud Transformation, you will lead the strategic and operational management of our hybrid infrastructure estate, overseeing on‑premise systems, private cloud, and public cloud environments. This role combines hands‑on technical expertise with functional leadership across our infrastructure, cloud, and security platforms. You will manage a high‑performing team comprising senior specialists in Cloud, Datacentre, and Security, as well as IT Services Engineers. Your leadership will shape our journey from traditional infrastructure to a secure, compliant, and scalable hybrid model built around AWS and Oracle Cloud. This role is essential to ensuring the availability, resilience, and regulatory compliance of the infrastructure underpinning the core banking systems relied upon by Credit Unions across Ireland. You will work closely with compliance teams to align infrastructure with evolving Central Bank of Ireland requirements and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):
- Define and execute a roadmap for transitioning infrastructure to a hybrid model leveraging AWS and Oracle Cloud.
- Align technology decisions with business goals, regulatory expectations, and customer needs.
- Lead the adoption of modern infrastructure practices, including automation, observability, and high availability.
Functional Leadership:
- Provide leadership and direction to a team comprising Senior Cloud, Datacentre, and Security Engineers, alongside IT Services Engineers, ensuring alignment across strategic infrastructure initiatives and day‑to‑day operations.
- Foster a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the team is equipped and empowered to deliver infrastructure services aligned to business SLAs and compliance objectives.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure stability, resilience, and scalability across all infrastructure layers: compute, storage, networking, and identity.
- Drive automation of patching, backup, and monitoring processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Own the incident and change management processes for infrastructure services.
Security & Compliance:
- Ensure infrastructure aligns with Central Bank of Ireland regulations and ISO 27001 standards.
- Collaborate with Compliance and Security teams to implement and maintain robust security controls, including endpoint protection, privileged access management, and vulnerability remediation.
- Lead annual resilience and disaster recovery testing for critical systems.
- Act as a key technical leader in discussions with Credit Unions, demonstrating alignment of infrastructure with regulatory requirements and security best practices.
- Communicate infrastructure risks, plans, and strategies clearly to internal stakeholders, including Engineering, Product, and Support teams.
- Represent the infrastructure function during customer due diligence, audits, and regulatory interactions.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience managing hybrid infrastructure environments with on‑prem and public cloud (AWS and/or Oracle Cloud).
- Deep technical expertise in virtualisation (e.g., VMware), networking, storage, and identity services.
- Track record of leading and developing high‑performing infrastructure teams.
- Experience delivering secure and compliant infrastructure in a regulated industry (ideally financial services).
- Familiarity with infrastructure governance and security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIS2, Central Bank standards).
- Strong communication and leadership skills across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with or supplying into Credit Unions or financial institutions.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks from the Central Bank of Ireland or other financial regulators.
- Experience in fintech or financial technology infrastructure environments.
