Wellington College Prep is a vibrant and nurturing preparatory school. We provide a warm, inspiring community where every pupil is encouraged to develop curiosity, confidence, and character. Situated in Sandhurst, Berkshire, and closely connected to Wellington College, the Prep School offers a welcoming and supportive community for pupils and staff. You will play an important role in our school community, working alongside dedicated colleagues to ensure the smooth and effective running of the Sports Department. Your contribution will directly support pupils and staff every day. This residential Sports Assistant position is offered on a fixed-term contract as part of our rolling annual rota. Contracts are reviewed and renewed each year in line with operational requirements. Wellington College Prep seeks a caring, energetic and dependable Residential Sports Assistant to play an important part in the life of our PE and Games Department and our close-knit boarding community. This is a varied, people-focused opportunity for someone who enjoys helping children discover the pleasure of being active, working collaboratively and taking pride in their contribution. The successful candidate will work alongside colleagues to make sporting experiences well organised, welcoming and enjoyable for pupils across the school. They will help pupils prepare for lessons, activities and fixtures, support teams on match days, and contribute to a lively programme beyond the formal timetable. With enthusiasm for a range of school sports, they will encourage participation, teamwork, kindness, courage and respect, ensuring that every child feels included and able to develop confidence. Alongside sport, the role has a meaningful pastoral dimension. The Residential Sports Assistant will be a positive and reassuring presence for boarders at different points in their day, helping to create a calm, happy and well-supported environment. They will contribute to evening, morning and weekend routines and activities, building warm, appropriate relationships with pupils and working closely with boarding, pastoral and domestic colleagues. There will also be opportunities to support younger pupils in the classroom, with reading and prep, and within after-school care. We are looking for an individual with experience of supporting, coaching or working with children or young people, who brings maturity, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to pupil welfare. A collaborative approach, clear communication and the confidence to supervise small groups will be important, as will the resilience and flexibility to contribute to a residential setting. Previous boarding, pastoral, first-aid or sports coaching experience would be welcomed, but a willingness to learn and engage fully in school life is equally valued.
