A dynamic, innovative boarding and day school where ambition, kindness and curiosity shape every aspect of our community, Wellington College is seeking an exceptional Head of Health, Safety & Compliance to provide strategic leadership and professional oversight across all aspects of health, safety and regulatory compliance. This position is central to ensuring the wellbeing of pupils, staff and visitors in our vibrant, complex and internationally connected environment.
About Our School Community: Wellington College is a forward-thinking educational setting where academic ambition, pastoral life, sport, creative arts and co-curricular experiences blend across an extensive and diverse estate. You will support safe operations across teaching spaces, boarding houses, performance venues, sports facilities, grounds and large-scale events. Our location in Crowthorne, Berkshire, provides strong transport links and a dynamic working environment.
Your Role and Contribution: Working full time (40 hours a week), 52 weeks per year, you will lead the College's health, safety and compliance strategy, ensuring we meet and exceed legislative requirements and sector expectations. Acting as the College's competent person, you will provide expert guidance to senior leaders and Governors, oversee incident management and emergency planning, and ensure that risk assessment, reporting and assurance frameworks remain robust and future-focused. You will work closely with Estates, Operations, HR, academic departments and international partners to embed a confident, proactive safety culture supported by strong engagement, training and data-driven insight.
Your leadership will bring clarity and assurance across high-risk and specialist areas including construction, science, DTE, sport and major events. You will play a key role in ensuring that our systems and people are resilient, well informed and supported in delivering excellence safely.
