Wellington College is a leading co-educational boarding and day school set in the heart of Berkshire. Our 400-acre campus is home to a vibrant and inclusive community where every member of staff plays a vital role in supporting the educational and pastoral experience of our pupils.
We are currently seeking a reliable and proactive Weekend Logistics Operative to join our Domestic Services team. This part-time role is essential to the smooth running of College life at weekends, supporting a wide range of logistical operations across the site. From setting up and dismantling rooms for events, to transporting supplies and maintaining public areas, the Weekend Logistics Operative helps ensure our campus remains safe, clean and well-organised for pupils, staff and visitors.
The successful candidate will be physically fit, comfortable working independently and as part of a team, and able to respond flexibly to changing priorities. A full UK driving licence is essential. While this is a weekend role, there may be opportunities for additional hours during busy periods or to support wider College operations.
Applicants must have well-developed English language skills—spoken, written and reading—as this role involves regular communication with colleagues. Experience in similar roles, particularly within schools or multi-site organisations, is welcomed. Familiarity with safeguarding practices, COSHH regulations, and health and safety procedures in an educational setting would be advantageous, as would a background in supporting events or facilities operations.
As part of our commitment to staff wellbeing, Wellington College offers a warm and supportive working environment alongside a generous benefits package. This includes 33 days of annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays), pro-rated for part-time, and complimentary lunches during shifts—freshly prepared, nutritious and offering a wide variety of high-quality options. Staff also enjoy subsidised membership to the Wellington Health & Fitness Club, a competitive personal pension scheme, and access to our Employee Assistance Programme, which includes 24/7 remote GP services. These are just a few of the many benefits available to our team.
For a full breakdown of responsibilities and person specification, please refer to the job description.
Wellington College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. The College is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent", unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
We reserve the right to interview suitable candidates before the closing date or to close the vacancy early if deemed appropriate. You are advised to submit your application as early as possible to avoid missing your chance to apply.
Wellington College is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from suitable candidates from all backgrounds. All applicants must have a valid right to work in the UK and be able to produce supporting documentation.
