Wellington College is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housekeeper (Boarding House Assistant) to join our team and play a vital role in the day‑to‑day care and ensure the wellbeing of our boarders are to the highest standard.

The Role

We are offering a working week during term time as follows:

  • Week A: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday – 07:30 – 11:30; Wednesday – 07:30 – 18:00; Saturday – Day off (Total of 26 hours)
  • Week B: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday – 07:30 – 11:30; Saturday – 07:30 – 18:00; Wednesday – Day off (Total of 26 hours)

During Wellington school holidays the working week would be: Monday – Thursday – 07:30 – 12:45; Friday – 07:30 – 12:30 (Total of 26 hours). No weekend work. This job is offered for 52 weeks a year, but there is an opportunity to discuss term time positions of 40 weeks per year if required.

Main Responsibilities

  • Complete daily cleaning tasks as assigned, following the house cleaning schedule
  • Coordinate a full call-over when waking boarders in the morning
  • Monitor pupils’ medical needs, including administering and observing prescribed and non‑prescribed medication
  • Arrange travel for pupils to A&E or personal appointments
  • Manage access for visitors and contractors to the house

Person Specification

  • A well‑developed understanding of the English language, both spoken and written
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A caring, reliable, and proactive approach
  • Awareness of safeguarding requirements (desirable)
  • Previous experience in a similar role (preferred but not essential)
