The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships. We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.

We are looking for a Digital Marketing Manager to join Wellcome Trust’s Content Team.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

You will work within the Communications function, part of Wellcome’s Corporate Affairs directorate reporting to the Content Lead. You will work closely with colleagues in a content function and more broadly across both Wellcome Trust and Wellcome Collection’s communications teams.

What will I be doing?

With responsibility for all paid marketing and media activity and newsletter programmes for Wellcome Trust, you will lead the development and delivery of a unified digital marketing strategy, and coordinate an organisation‑wide approach to audience growth, engagement and conversion, ensuring Wellcome’s paid activity and email communications reach the right people, at the right time, with the right message.

As a digital marketing manager, you will:

  • Champion best practice in digital marketing across news and content, build capability across the organisation and ensure all activity aligns with Wellcome’s mission, brand and strategic priorities.
  • Use data, experimentation and AI‑enabled insight to optimise performance, strengthen Wellcome’s reputation, and deepen engagement with partners, the academic community and new audiences.
  • Work closely with the Wellcome Collection Comms & Marketing team to develop a shared understanding of best-in-class use of digital advertising channels and paid media; ensure a robust and consistent approach to and use of first- and third-party data; and share channel and audience insights and learnings.
  • Work with the Content Lead to explore all potential avenues to reach new audiences (search, social, display and video ads, sponsored content, influencer ads and out of home) ensuring efficiency and impact across campaigns and channels, building a comprehensive strategy for Wellcome Trust’s paid media activity.
  • Oversee planning, buying and optimisation across paid search, paid social, display, video, native and emerging channels.
  • Work closely with programme, brand, content and product teams to ensure paid activity supports organisational priorities and reaches priority audiences.
  • Manage relationships with media agencies, platform managers and external partners, ensuring high‑quality delivery and value for money.
  • Lead a unified newsletter strategy across Wellcome Trust and Wellcome Collection, ensuring communications to partners, the academic community and new audiences are coherent, targeted and impactful.
  • Maintain a digital marketing calendar covering paid and email/newsletter activity, ensuring coordination and integration with organic content plans and wider communications too, working in close partnership with the digital channels manager.
