This is a great time to join Wellcome Collection as we recently introduced a new ten-year strategy, and this role will play an important part in bringing our vision; "a world where everyone's experience of health matters" to life.

Wellcome Collection is part of Wellcome Trust, a global charitable foundation that supports science to build a healthier future for everyone. Wellcome Trust plans to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.

We are looking for a Production Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis.

You will work in Wellcome Collection's Production & Planning team, reporting to the Head, Production & Planning and working closely with Project Managers and the Technical Manager. The Production & Planning team is part of the Curatorial & Public Practice department and takes the lead on exhibition production and programme planning.

What will I be doing?

  • You will support the delivery and maintenance of a ground-breaking programme of exhibitions at Wellcome Collection.
  • You will have both practical and administrative duties, working to ensure excellent standards of gallery presentation as well as helping Wellcome Collection achieve its sustainability aims.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Carry out exhibitions installation and deinstallation activities from materials purchasing to object positioning; from updating equipment inventory to packing and labelling.
  • Support Wellcome Collection's sustainability aims by overseeing off site storage of reusable exhibition furniture and display equipment.
  • Help ensure that exhibitions and displays are well maintained, safe and accessible for our visitors.
  • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

This role will provide crucial support for a busy team, working collaboratively on hard deadlines. This is an ideal role for someone with some experience of working on a museum or gallery exhibition programme who has developed hands-on practical skills as well as an aptitude for administrative tasks.

Minimum Criteria:

  • Experience of carrying out practical tasks as part of a museum or gallery exhibition programme.
  • Experience of administration, ideally in a museum or gallery environment.
  • Can demonstrate a track record of working collaboratively and inclusively as part of a project team.

Diversity and Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. Diversity and Inclusion is a priority at Wellcome. We are committed to cultivating a fair and inclusive environment, where everyone can be themselves and thrive. We are happy to discuss flexible working options for all roles. We work to ensure that our recruitment processes are as inclusive as possible to everyone.
