Overview

As Associate Director, Strategy you will shape and embed Wellcome’s global strategy across the organisation, leading capability development and the Strategy Integration function. You’ll ensure coherent strategy delivery, driving impact measures and alignment across departments to avoid mission creep. You’ll work with senior leaders on strategic projects, translating ambiguity into clear recommendations and practical delivery. This role offers the opportunity to influence high-impact health initiatives within a global philanthropy focused on mental health, infectious disease and climate health.

Responsibilities

  • Own strategy content, capability, and delivery for the Strategy department
  • Support strategy development and impact measurement with Strategy Integration across the organisation
  • Develop ongoing strategy capabilities within the Strategy department and across Wellcome
  • Embed organisational strategy decisions across departments to ensure coherence and avoid mission creep
  • Support strategic projects and priorities as agreed by the Strategy Leadership Team

Key requirements

  • Significant experience in senior strategy consulting within global health and/or health research sectors
  • Experience delivering in LMIC contexts in Africa, South or South East Asia, and in large-scale or global organisations
  • Proven track record of leading complex cross-organisational strategic projects from ambiguity to recommendations and delivery
  • Experience operating at or advising senior leadership with credibility and autonomy
  • Proven ability to manage senior professionals and lead high-performing teams
  • Deep familiarity with the global health landscape
