This role forms part of the Investment Accounting Team reporting to the Investment Accounting Controller, within the Financial Accounting Team. This role will be task managing a junior colleague and working directly with Wellcome’s Property Managers and Investment Accounting teams.

You will lead investment property accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust financial controls, and ownership of accounting processes for designated asset classes.

As an Investment Accounting Manager, you will:

  • Lead investment accounting and financial reporting processes for investment property, including reconciliations, accounting and property tax adjustments, and financial statement preparation.
  • Oversee investment property valuation processes and controls, delivering analysis and reporting to support investment governance and decision-making.
  • Supervise, review, and develop the work of accounting team members, providing coaching and mentorship to junior colleagues.
  • Manage relationships with investment property stakeholders (internal property managers, and finance teams in property backed investment operating companies), auditors, and third-party service providers (managing agents and valuers) to ensure effective collaboration and high-quality reporting.
  • Ensure new property investments are successfully integrated into finance operations while maintaining a strong risk and control environment.
  • Promote compliance, cost management, and inclusive ways of working, contributing to organisational objectives and cross-functional collaboration.

Minimum Criteria:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA or relevant qualification.
  • Investment property accounting (UK GAAP or IFRS) experience and able to apply investment accounting principles specific assets and complex arrangements with Direct investment Property experience.
  • Understanding of the tax and legal compliance requirements relevant to UK investment property.
  • Supervisory experience – line and/or task managing a small team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to manage own workload with focus on delivery and capable of working effectively under pressure, managing multiple team priorities.
