We are looking for a Senior Research Manager to join the climate and health team, focusing on the economic and financial aspects of climate mitigation and its health co‑benefits. The role will be based in the Mitigation Team within the Climate and Health Research Programme.

Location
Work will be conducted in the Mitigation Team at Wellcome. The hybrid working arrangement involves three days in the Euston Road office (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and two days working remotely or in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Climate & Health strategy and identify, develop and manage funding for a variety of research projects.
  • Convene, fund and disseminate learning through funding calls, research commissions and evidence‑scoping contracts.
  • Lead initiatives to develop and deliver the climate, health and economic research strategy.
  • Support the team in convening, funding and sharing learning, leading the implementation and assessment of funding calls and commissions, convening groups, drafting reports and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the scoping of priority areas, shape and advance internal research projects, and manage large projects with a focus on the economic and financial aspects of climate (in)action.
  • Drive the generation of robust, relevant evidence to guide financial decision‑making and enable climate‑ and health‑informed processes and prioritisation.

Qualifications

  • Economic experience relevant to climate and health research, with a preference for expertise in the energy sector.
  • Experience with research methods such as impact evaluation, political economy analysis and, where applicable, randomised controlled trials.
  • Demonstrated significant research expertise in climate mitigation and health co‑benefits, covering academic, industrial, funding agency or charity settings.
  • Knowledge of universities, funders and other scientific and research organisations and communities.
  • Experience in shaping and delivering research or science‑related programmes, with a particular interest in methods relevant to climate, health and economic research.

Hybrid Working Arrangement
Three days per week in the Euston Road office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) and two days working remotely or in the office.
