The Wellcome Sanger Institute conducts cutting-edge genomic research on an unprecedented scale and our administration and support staff play a vital role in enabling and supporting our mission and vision.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and highly skilled individual to provide a proficient and streamlined administrative service to the Leadership Team of the Genomic Surveillance Unit (GSU) at the Wellcome Sanger Institute. As Senior Administrator, you will also ensure the smooth operation of the GSU’s wider administrative function. This is a hybrid role that requires at least three days a week on our beautiful campus.
About the Role
The role will consolidate administrative, personal assistant and programme support for members of GSU’s Leadership Teams. This will include but is not limited to:
- Diary and inbox management and coordination
- Event planning and management
- Organisation of travel
- Administrative arrangements for visitors to the GSU
- Other administrative tasks such as purchasing, taking minutes of meetings, completing paperwork and processing expenses
Ensuring that all administrative processes are managed effectively and efficiently across the GSU is a key function of the role. Working collaboratively with one other Senior Administrator, you will act as a key point of contact for matters of an administrative nature.
About You
To excel in this role, you should have substantial experience in providing high-level administrative support to senior managers, including the proactive management of complex diaries and inboxes. In addition, you will be:
- Able to pay close attention to detail to enable tasks to be completed accurately and in a timely manner is an essential requirement of the role.
- Highly organised, efficient, self-motivated and energetic, able to work independently in a dynamic environment with flexibility, adjusting to varying priorities as necessary and finding solutions to challenges that arise.
- Tactful and discrete in communication and respect confidentiality.
- Able to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
