Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Root Cause Analysis process for GOL
  • Support the Control Systems working group for GOL
  • Support the Operational Excellence development program
  • Coordination between the maintenance team and the EC&I team
  • Support the C&I team

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work in accordance with the Cobalt Safety Rules, actively managing subcontractors and supervising contractors
  • Operate safely, adhering to Gladsmuir Core Elements & Expectations and Cobalt Life Saving Rules
  • Adhere to all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Assist the operations team in understanding and applying fault finding techniques
  • Work in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
  • Use the company CMMS to assure accurate maintenance records and comprehensive asset data
  • Participate with the CSWG providing interface and feedback for the site
  • Engage with the Operations team for the development of robust fault finding processes
  • Become an integral part of the Asset Maintenance Team, liaising with other areas of the business
  • Provide support to the GOL Management of Change process
  • Report unsafe acts and conditions within the GOL observation reporting tool
  • Share knowledge with other operating assets
  • Work with engineering drawings and P&ID’s
  • Ensure all maintenance equipment is regularly checked and compliant with HSE regulations
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the workshop and facility
  • Conduct safety compliance inspections and maintain records

Ad Hoc Tasks

  • Undertake any reasonable requests or tasks as directed by the Line Manager or Cobalt Management

Target Work Breakdown: 20% meetings, 40% direct supervision, and 40% guidance and development of Root Cause Analysis management

  • Complete and support annual, half yearly and quarterly performance appraisal process
  • Adhere to all Gladsmuir policies and procedures
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Deliver quality and timely output as per agreed standards

Qualifications / Experience

  • Existing right to work in the UK
  • Willingness to travel (within UK)
  • A recognised engineering qualification at HNC/City & Guilds/NVQ level 3
  • Electrical qualifications (or equivalent experience)
  • Previous experience in an Energy from Waste facility, power generation, or equivalent
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of E, C & I systems, including VSD’s, distribution and various instrumentation
  • Involvement in plant mobilisation and commissioning is desirable but not essential
  • Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legal requirements
  • Demonstrable experience working with Permit-to-Work systems
  • IT literate and able to use Microsoft package as well as bespoke software (experience of MAXIMO or similar)
  • Energetic and enthusiastic
  • Comfortable in a high-paced environment
  • Self-starter with a can-do attitude
  • Deadline-driven, result-oriented, able to multitask
  • Ability to break down and solve problems
  • A solid team player who’s also an independent thinker
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills: English (verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with waste management and EfW sector
  • Relevant H&S qualification (e.g. IOSH Managing Safely)
  • Familiarity with UPS Systems, Motor and Drive Systems, Electrical Distribution Equipment
  • Membership of a relevant Professional Body (i.e. IET, InstMC)
