THE ROLE
We are actively seeking our next Category and Trade Marketing Manager within the consumer retail channel who can help us to deliver accelerated profitable growth, developing winning strategies and ensuring in store execution with excellence. Retail (high street, department stores, Pharmacy, Ireland and QVC) is our fastest growing channel with significant opportunity for further growth and new partnerships - it is therefore a crucial role for the future of the brand in UKI. We require someone with a strong background in category and trade marketing management to continue to step change the nail and hair categories alongside Wella and OPI's performance as a key player in the industry.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Category Management
- Actively build Category Visions (1-3 year) and Growth Story with appropriate amendments by channel and by customer.
- Build yearly category stories which identify clear actionable levers for category growth.
- Actively build Category plans for next 12 months by customer.
- Together with CMI and Channel Marketing to work from the consumer/shopper insight to identify category opportunity and translate into winning customer activation.
- Create strong working partnerships with retailer counterparts at Buyer, Merchandiser, Senior Buyer level.
- Identify and analyse key competitor activity and report / track competition.
- Contribute to brand performance analysis. Consolidate brand 4P performance, provide business building perspectives on competitive & customer analysis.
- Continually influence the sales & brand team to take necessary 5P corrective action.
- Translate, develop & adapt branded concept sells / retailer channel business cases for every launch / initiative to each major customer.
- Conduct initiative launch performance 5P analysis. Challenge under performance & share what good looks like.
- Translate insights / category data into action to support retailer sell-ins.
- Validate final initiative sizing & work alongside brand to determine success of innovation.
- Be the conduit between Brand Marketing and Sales Teams to ensure Wella strategy is applied, customized and executed with excellence.
- Be the expert and driver of Commercial Excellence and improving commercial performance.
- Build strong working relationships across the business to enhance the performance of UK business: Global Divisions, UK Sales, Education and Marketing Teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in leading category management essential.
- Experience in in store, e-commerce and online marketing preferred.
- Proven success working with large FMCG retailers.
- 2 way supplier and retailer P&L management experience.
- High level of numeracy, with strong analytical skills.
- Excellent organisation capabilities, ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure on short deadlines.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong team player with ability to effectively listen, contribute and influence.
- Experience in strategic planning and ability to effectively contribute to and influence higher level strategy.
- Confident in presenting to large groups and influencing at all levels of the organisation.
- Strong commercial acumen.
- Sound knowledge of Excel and Word and PowerPoint packages.
- Proactive, results oriented, flexible approach to work.
