The Quantity Surveyor with procurement experience will be responsible for managing project costs, procurement, and contracts from inception to completion. This role requires liaising and coordinating with contractors, vendors, and suppliers, as well as the possibility of onsite work to support project execution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare detailed cost analyses based on architectural drawings, engineering estimates, and required materials.
- Source vendors and contractors, obtain quotations, and evaluate tender submissions.
- Negotiate contracts, including terms, conditions, and pricing, ensuring execution aligns with agreements.
- Prepare and manage tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
- Monitor and control project expenditures, including measurement and valuation of variations, interim payments, and final accounts.
- Manage procurement activities: prepare purchase orders, liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, logistics partners, and warehouse for smooth end-to-end supply chain flow.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and adherence to project requirements.
- May be required to work onsite (less often) for project coordination, inspections, or contractor supervision.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Communicate regularly with project staff, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and China-based counterparts.
- Perform any other ad hoc assignments as directed by management.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in construction, with strong knowledge of contracts, procurement, and material costing.
- Fluent in Mandarin to liaise effectively with China-based teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines.
- Proficient in cost estimation, tender evaluation, and budget control.
- Highly organized, independent, and self-motivated, with strong record-keeping skills.
- Able to work under pressure, both in the office and onsite, and collaboratively in a team environment.
