We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner (GP) to join our forward-thinking and dynamic team within Central Brighton and Hove.
The role involves being part of a large and multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals, with a focus on direct, compassionate care and clinical work with patients, families, and disadvantaged communities. In return, you will receive a robust support system from our dedicated team, with strong support for CPD.
Main duties of the job:
- Conducting surgery and telephone consultations.
- Managing queries, home visits, repeat prescriptions, and timely correspondence.
- Making autonomous decisions for self-referred and referred patients.
- Assessing undiagnosed health concerns and screening for disease risks.
- Providing counselling and delivering health education.
- Admitting or discharging patients and referring to other care providers.
- Ensuring consultation notes and data meet agreed standards.
- Issuing computer-generated prescriptions and adhering to the Practice prescribing formulary.
- Participating in developing and delivering new services and care models.
- Committing to ongoing learning and evidence-based best practices.
- Contributing to Enhanced Services, QOF/IIF initiatives, audits, and clinical standard setting.
- Maintaining and developing patient records, summarising and Read-Coding data.

What we would like you to do:
- Hold surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- Provide counselling and health education.
- Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
- Record clear consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Collect data for audit purposes.
- Comply and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
- Prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary whenever clinically appropriate.
- Undertake all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

- Participate in the development and delivery of new services and new models for care in Primary Care.
- Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines.

As a training hub, the organisation provides education and development opportunities for medical and non-medical students as well as qualified trainees. You will be expected to contribute actively to training and supervisory activities. You will also be involved in clinical work with neurodiverse patients and trans, non-binary and intersex (TNBI) patients. Full training and support will be provided to ensure confidence and competence in these areas.

Qualifications:
- Essential: Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) or equivalent.
- Evidence of commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Knowledge:
- Essential: Sound understanding of current NHS policies and guidelines, including clinical governance.
- Aware of safeguarding practices and policies.
- Knowledge of prescribing protocols and formulary adherence.
- Desirable: Familiarity with local health services and community resources.
Other Requirements:

- Ability to work between the practice's three sites as required.
