At Welham Jones, we understand that the first moments after a bereavement are some of the most difficult a family will ever face. We are looking for calm, compassionate and dependable individuals to join our Out-of-Hours Funeral Removal Team, providing professional support when families need it most. This is not a typical role. When the phone rings at 2am, you may be the first person a family meets during one of the most challenging times of their lives. Your professionalism, empathy and reassurance can make a lasting difference.
About the Role
Working as part of a two-person team, you will respond to out-of-hours calls across North West Kent and South East London, bringing deceased persons into our care with dignity, respect and compassion. No previous funeral experience is required. We are looking for people with the right attitude, strong values and a genuine desire to help others. Full training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Responding to out-of-hours calls during your allocated on-call week
- Attending private homes, care homes, hospices and hospitals
- Bringing deceased persons into our care with dignity and professionalism
- Supporting and reassuring bereaved families
- Liaising with healthcare professionals and other agencies
- Completing basic documentation and records accurately
On-Call Commitment
This is a casual, zero-hours position operating on a week-on / week-off rota. During your on-call week you must be:
- Available Monday to Friday between 6pm and 6am
- Available 24 hours on Saturdays and Sundays
- Able to attend our Dunton Green hub within 30 minutes of being called
