At Welford Healthcare, we’re looking for a Regional Maintenance Manager to support our care homes and HMOs, ensuring our residents, staff, and visitors enjoy safe, comfortable, and well‑maintained environments every day.
The Role
As Regional Maintenance Manager, you’ll lead maintenance and compliance activities across a portfolio of homes, working closely with Home Managers, the Facilities Manager, and regional operational teams. You’ll drive best practice, support maintenance teams, oversee contractors, and ensure every site remains fully compliant with legislative requirements and industry standards. This is a varied role that combines:
- Compliance management
- Team leadership and mentoring

- Auditing and quality assurance
- Hands‑on maintenance support when needed
What You’ll Be Doing
Lead Compliance & Auditing
- Conduct annual Health, Safety & Environment audits across your region.
- Monitor compliance through Mainteno, ensuring no critical tasks become overdue.
- Ensure all statutory inspections, servicing, certifications, and remedial works are completed and recorded.
Support & Develop Maintenance Teams
- Mentor, train, and upskill maintenance personnel.
- Support recruitment, induction, and ongoing development of maintenance staff.
- Provide practical guidance and toolbox talks to promote best practice.
Manage Contractors & Projects
- Oversee contractor performance and compliance.
- Support refurbishment projects and property improvements.
- Work with the Facilities Manager on tendering, procurement, and contract management.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely and to a high standard.
Keep Homes Safe & Operational
- Support homes with urgent repairs, breakdowns, and maintenance challenges.
- Ensure compliance with Fire Safety, COSHH, Legionella, Electrical Safety, and Health & Safety requirements.
- Help reduce contractor costs by providing practical maintenance support where appropriate.
- Ensure maintenance spending delivers value for money.
- Monitor purchasing activity and supplier performance.
- Support the onboarding of new homes and implementation of maintenance systems and procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Extensive maintenance experience within healthcare, care homes, housing, or similar environments
- Strong knowledge of plumbing, general building maintenance, basic electrics, decorating, gardening and grounds maintenance, portable appliance testing (PAT)
- Experience managing compliance and statutory maintenance requirements
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with managers, colleagues, and contractors
- Full UK Driving Licence
