Working collaboratively with clinicians, radiologists, Medical Physics Experts (MPEs), Radiation Protection Advisers (RPAs), and patient administration teams, the service ensures that imaging investigations are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with the highest clinical, regulatory and governance standards. Precision, professionalism and patient comfort underpin everything we do.

About The Role

As the PET‑CT Superintendent Radiographer, you will lead the implementation and ongoing operational management of our PET‑CT service. Working closely with the Clinical Lead, you will be responsible for building a safe, efficient and high‑performing PET‑CT department—from initial scanner setup through to day‑to‑day service delivery. You will provide expert clinical leadership, overseeing all aspects of PET‑CT imaging, including protocol development, image quality, technical assurance and compliance with IR(ME)R, IRR17 and ARSAC requirements. As an experienced leader, you will manage and develop a team of PET‑CT radiographers and support staff, supporting recruitment, induction, rota planning, performance management and ongoing professional development. You will also monitor service KPIs, contribute to business planning, and support the safe introduction of new tracers and technologies. This role demands strong clinical credibility, exceptional organisational skills, and a passion for shaping a high‑quality service. It is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic imaging environment and is motivated by building and leading a best‑in‑class diagnostic service.

  • Lead the setup, safe handling, storage and disposal of radioactive materials
  • Work closely with the RPA and MPE to ensure full compliance with IRR17 and local rules
  • Oversee governance, audit, incident reporting and quality improvement activity
  • Maintain accurate documentation including dosimetry, radioactive waste records and equipment logs
  • Line‑manage radiographers and support staff, supporting performance, CPD and team development
  • Ensure an exceptional patient experience with clear communication and compassionate care
  • Support new service developments, business planning and growth opportunities
