About the department

Our Minimally Invasive Treatment Suite within Orthopaedics & Neurology is a highly specialised service supporting image guided procedures that improve patient outcomes and recovery times. The service plays a critical role in delivering safe, effective, and efficient care across a range of orthopaedic, spinal, and pain management interventions.

Working closely with consultants, anaesthetists, nursing teams, and wider clinical colleagues, the department ensures procedures are supported by high quality imaging in a controlled, patient-focused environment. Precision, safety, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do.

About the role

As a Bank Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) / Anaesthetic Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality care within the Procedure Suite. You will work collaboratively with anaesthetists, consultants, and the multidisciplinary team to provide expert clinical support before, during, and after procedures.

You will be responsible for preparing the clinical environment, equipment, and patients for anaesthetic interventions, ensuring all processes are delivered in line with best practice and governance standards. Throughout the patient journey, you will provide reassurance and maintain a calm, professional presence, adapting your approach to meet individual patient needs.

This role requires strong clinical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced environment. As part of the bank team, you will work flexibly to support service demand while maintaining the highest standards of care, safety, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred anaesthetic care within the Procedure Suite

  • Prepare equipment, drugs, and clinical environments in line with anaesthetic and theatre protocols

  • Assist anaesthetists during procedures, including airway management and patient monitoring

  • Support patients pre- and post-procedure, ensuring comfort, safety, and dignity at all times

  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in line with governance requirements

  • Monitor patients’ physiological status and respond appropriately to clinical changes

  • Adhere to infection prevention and control, safeguarding, and health & safety standards

  • Ensure all equipment is checked, maintained, and ready for use

  • Escalate any clinical concerns, incidents, or risks appropriately and in a timely manner

  • Work flexibly as part of the bank team to support service delivery and operational needs

About you

You are a qualified ODP or Registered Nurse with anaesthetic experience, committed to delivering safe, effective, and compassionate care. You are confident supporting anaesthetic procedures, with a strong understanding of monitoring, airway management, and patient safety principles.

You communicate clearly and calmly, building trust with patients while working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Professional, reliable, and adaptable, you thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment and take pride in maintaining high standards of care and clinical governance.

You are proactive, detail-oriented, and flexible in your approach, with a strong commitment to delivering an outstanding patient experience at all times.
