About the role
As a Bank Scrub Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality procedures within the Procedure Suite. You will provide skilled scrub assistance across a range of specialties, ensuring that surgical interventions are delivered efficiently and in line with best practice standards. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for preparing theatres, maintaining sterile fields, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team throughout procedures. You will contribute to a calm and organised environment, ensuring equipment and instrumentation are prepared, checked, and used safely. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety, adherence to infection prevention and control standards, and effective communication with colleagues. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality scrub support across a range of procedures and specialties
- Prepare operating theatres, equipment, and instrumentation in line with clinical protocols
- Maintain sterile fields and adhere to infection prevention and control standards
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons and the wider theatre team during procedures
- Ensure surgical instruments and consumables are handled, checked, and accounted for correctly
- Support patient positioning, dignity, and safety throughout the perioperative journey
- Accurately document procedures and complete relevant clinical records
- Participate in safety checks, including WHO surgical safety checklists
- Escalate concerns, incidents, or equipment issues appropriately
- Work flexibly to support service delivery as part of the bank workforce
