About the role
As a Bank Healthcare Assistant within the Theatre and Procedure Suite, you will play an essential role in supporting the clinical team to deliver outstanding patient care before, during, and after procedures. You will work closely with nurses, consultants, and allied health professionals to ensure the clinical environment is prepared, safe, and well‑equipped. This includes assisting with patient positioning, maintaining sterile fields where appropriate, and supporting with the smooth flow of patients through the department. A key aspect of the role is providing reassurance and compassionate care to patients, helping them feel informed, comfortable, and supported during what can often be an anxious time. You will also contribute to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and equipment readiness across all theatre areas. This role requires a proactive, flexible approach and a strong commitment to teamwork, as you will support a range of procedures and adapt to the changing demands of a busy clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the clinical team in the delivery of safe, high‑quality patient care within theatre and procedure areas
- Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and transfer in line with safety protocols
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑stocked clinical environment
- Adhere to infection prevention and control policies, including maintaining aseptic techniques where required
- Ensure equipment and instruments are prepared, checked, and available for procedures
- Provide reassurance and support to patients throughout their care pathway
- Accurately complete documentation and support the use of electronic systems
- Assist with stock management, including monitoring and replenishing supplies
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and governance procedures at all times
- Escalate concerns, incidents, or risks promptly and appropriately
- Work flexibly across shifts to support service delivery
