About the Role
As a Bank Pre-assessment Healthcare Professional (HCA or Registered Nurse), you will play a key role in supporting patients through their pre-operative journey, ensuring they are fully assessed, informed, and prepared for their procedures. You will carry out a range of clinical assessments, including patient observations, health screening, and documentation review, identifying and escalating any risks or concerns. You will provide clear guidance and reassurance to patients, helping them understand their procedure and any required pre-operative preparations. Working flexibly as part of the bank team, you will support service delivery by maintaining accurate records, assisting with clinic flow, and ensuring compliance with clinical and governance standards. You will contribute to a positive patient experience by delivering compassionate, patient-centred care and adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred care during pre-assessment appointments
- Undertake clinical observations and health screening in line with protocols
- Complete pre-operative assessments, escalating risks or concerns appropriately
- Provide clear information and reassurance to patients regarding procedures and preparation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic systems
- Support the smooth running of pre-assessment clinics and patient flow
- Adhere to infection prevention, safeguarding, and clinical governance standards
- Assist with audit, quality, and compliance activities as required
- Maintain stock levels and ensure clinical areas are well prepared
- Work flexibly to meet service and operational needs as part of the bank workforce
About You
You are either a Healthcare Assistant with relevant clinical experience or a Registered Nurse with a strong understanding of pre-assessment or outpatient care. You are committed to delivering safe, effective, and compassionate patient care, with excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. You communicate clearly and confidently with patients and colleagues, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and the ability to put patients at ease. Comfortable working in a busy clinical environment, you are adaptable, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You take pride in maintaining high standards of clinical practice, patient safety, and governance, and are proactive in supporting a positive patient experience throughout the pre-operative pathway.
