About the department
Our Minimally Invasive Treatment Suite within Orthopaedics & Neurology is a highly specialised service supporting image guided procedures that improve patient outcomes and recovery times. The service plays a critical role in delivering safe, effective, and efficient care across a range of orthopaedic, spinal, and pain management interventions. Working closely with consultants, anaesthetists, nursing teams, and wider clinical colleagues, the department ensures procedures are supported by high quality imaging in a controlled, patient-focused environment. About the role
As a Bank Healthcare Assistant (HCA), you will play a key role in supporting patients before and after procedures within our Minimally Invasive Procedure Suite. You will contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care, ensuring every patient feels informed, reassured, and supported throughout their visit. Working alongside experienced nursing and medical teams, you will assist with patient preparation, recovery, and monitoring, including those undergoing infusion therapies. You will help maintain a safe and well-organised clinical environment while carrying out a range of non-invasive clinical duties. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment, takes pride in delivering high standards of care, and is looking to develop their experience in perioperative and procedural settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the safe admission and discharge of patients under the guidance of a registered nurse
- Prepare patients for procedures and assist with recovery following minor surgeries and infusion treatments
- Carry out basic clinical observations, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation
- Provide compassionate emotional and physical support, maintaining patient dignity and privacy at all times
- Perform non-invasive clinical tasks such as ECGs, equipment preparation, and patient transport
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised clinical environment in line with infection prevention and control standards
- Assist with updating patient records accurately and confidentially
- Provide chaperone support during clinical examinations and procedures
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and the wider multidisciplinary team
- Support nursing staff with equipment setup and ensure procedure areas are fully prepared
- Assist with routine checks of medical gas and suction equipment under supervision
- Contribute to patient feedback collection and support continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Act as a positive team member, promoting high standards and contributing to a supportive working environment
About you
You are a caring and motivated Healthcare Assistant with experience in a hospital, procedure suite, or day surgery environment. You are confident supporting patients through clinical pathways, maintaining high standards of care, and working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to put patients at ease and work collaboratively with colleagues. You take pride in delivering safe, patient-centred care and understand the importance of accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to clinical and governance standards.
You will also bring:
- A minimum of 1 year’s experience in a healthcare setting (essential)
- Experience within a hospital, procedure suite, or day surgery environment (essential)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (essential)
- A strong interest in infusion therapy and minor surgical recovery
- A proactive, adaptable approach with a willingness to learn
