About the department
OneWelbeck Endoscopy Centre is a specialist private facility in central London, delivering high-quality diagnostic and interventional endoscopy services. The Centre operates in a modern, purpose-built environment with four procedure rooms running five days a week, supported by leading consultants, experienced clinical teams, and robust governance frameworks. The service is underpinned by a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Multidisciplinary collaboration is central to how the Centre operates, ensuring patients receive safe, efficient, and compassionate care throughout their peri-procedural journey.
About the role
We are seeking to build a team of dedicated Consultant Anaesthetists to lead and deliver intravenous anaesthesia, sedation, and peri-procedural care within the Endoscopy Centre. Working collaboratively with fellow Consultant Anaesthetists, endoscopists, nursing teams, and operational staff, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, effective, and patient-centred delivery of anaesthesia services. As part of the consultant team, you will support the clinical operation of four procedure rooms and contribute to service coverage across the working week. You will be responsible for all aspects of anaesthetic care, from pre-procedural assessment and airway management through to recovery, discharge, and post-anaesthetic follow-up.
In addition to clinical duties, you will actively participate in performance improvement, audit, and quality assurance (QAPI) activities, helping to maintain and enhance clinical standards, patient safety, and service efficiency within a regulated private healthcare environment.
About you
You are a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist with full GMC registration and a licence to practise. You are on the Specialist Register for Anaesthesia, with FRCA (or equivalent) and completion of higher specialist training, and you bring at least two years’ experience working as a Consultant within the UK NHS. Clinically confident, you have demonstrable experience administering local anaesthesia, conscious sedation, and general anaesthesia, supported by current Adult Life Support certification and appropriate medical indemnity. You are meticulous in your approach to patient assessment, medication management, documentation, infection control, and safe anaesthetic practice.
You are committed to continuous professional development, actively engaging in audit, quality improvement, and appraisal processes. You are comfortable teaching and supporting multidisciplinary teams, particularly in acute or emergency scenarios. With strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills, you work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and contribute positively to a culture of safety, respect, and professionalism. You treat patients and their families with dignity, advocate for safe care, and communicate clearly across the continuum of care. Fluency in English is essential, with appropriate evidence of language proficiency and GMC registration where applicable.
