We are seeking a talented Menswear Designer to join our Product team at Head Office. You will be able to independently design and develop commercially successful and creatively engaging seasonal product across defined categories, having the flexibility to design across genders if needed, ensuring alignment with brand values and customer expectations. This role balances hands-on creativity with technical understanding and works cross-functionally to support the smooth delivery of each range.
Your key areas of focus:
- Creative Execution
- Own the end-to-end design of multiple product categories within the seasonal range.
- Create detailed CADs, tech packs, and presentation materials that clearly communicate design intent.
- Ensure each design aligns with seasonal creative direction, brand handwriting, and target customer.
- Contribute confidently in fittings, reviews, and range builds, taking initiative on improvements and refinements.
- Seasonal Research & Development
- Research trends, fabric, colour, and competitive landscape to support relevant and forward-thinking design.
- Curate mood boards and seasonal inspiration, bringing new ideas and energy to team discussions.
- Help identify gaps or opportunities within the range and propose creative, commercial solutions.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners including Buying, Merchandising, Technical.
- Liaise with suppliers to clarify design details, resolve issues, and ensure sample accuracy and on-time delivery.
- Confidently present designs and ideas to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Product Ownership & Workflow
- Manage workload within the design calendar and critical path, delivering work on time and to standard.
- Take ownership of sample development and preparation for sign-offs, range reviews, and meetings.
- Maintain accurate design files, overviews, colour palettes, and seasonal tools.
- Team Contribution
- Support and guide Junior Designers as needed, sharing technical knowledge or process tips.
- Contribute to a positive, solution-focused working environment.
- Show curiosity about ways of working, sustainability, and brand evolution.
What our Shoal needs:
- 3-5 years of relevant design experience.
- Proven ability to take a design from concept through to production.
- Excellent CAD skills and full proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, fabric, and trim.
- Strong eye for colour, proportion, and styling appropriate to the brand and customer.
- Organised, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
- Confident communicator, both visually and verbally.
- Awareness of sustainable materials and practices is a plus.
