The Company Founded in 2000, Weir Training Ltd is a quality Apprenticeship Training Provider, delivering vocational training throughout Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire and the South East. We work in partnership with a variety of local businesses to offer Apprenticeship solutions to both existing and new staff. We also support and assist with new Apprenticeship opportunities for young people looking to kick‑start their careers. Our highly qualified and experienced Apprenticeship Assessors provide one‑to‑one support throughout the Apprenticeship journey, tailoring each session to the Apprentice and Employer Partner needs. In July 2025, His Royal Majesty’s Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) completed a full inspection on Weir Training Ltd and awarded Grade 1 Outstanding – across the board, for a second consecutive time (first awarded in our 2018 inspection). As a responsible and conscientious Training Provider, we hold the Matrix standard accreditation, a unique quality standard for organisations to assess and measure their advice and support services, which ultimately supports individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals. Weir Training is Cyber Essentials certified, demonstrating our high protection levels against common online threats and is also an accredited Disability Confident Employer.

The Role As an Apprenticeship Assessor, you will play an integral part in guiding individuals through their Apprenticeship programmes and helping them to successfully achieve all requirements. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building relationships with Apprentices and Employer Partners.
  • Supporting and motivating Apprentices to ensure continuous progression is made throughout the duration of their Apprenticeship.
  • Maintaining a commitment to safeguard all Apprentices and reporting any concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Monitoring Apprentice progress to identify possible challenges, applying solutions to overcome these.
  • Setting individual targets for each Apprentice to ensure target dates are met and timely completions achieved.
  • Identifying and supporting additional learning needs of individual Apprentices.
  • Supporting the Apprentice’s completion of Maths and English Functional Skills up to Level 2 where relevant.
  • Managing your diary efficiently to ensure four weekly assessments with allocated Apprentices (approx. 45 per caseload).
  • Maintaining quarterly progress review schedule for each Apprentice and Employer Partner; ensuring compliance with funding rules.
  • Preparing Apprentices for their End Point Assessment.

Apprenticeships are more than just teaching people basic job skills; they are designed to support individuals in developing knowledge, skills and behaviours that will benefit them both personally and professionally. You will support and coach Apprentices to understand a variety of personal development modules including but not limited to Fundamental British Values, Prevent and Radicalisation, Employee Rights and Responsibilities and the impacts these have on them as an individual.

Weir Training is based in Chobham, Surrey and most of our Apprentices are based within a 25‑mile radius of our office. To be the ideal applicant, you will need to be ready and willing to make this commute frequently as this is a hybrid role, requiring site visits, remote working from home and working from the office.

Working Hours Monday – Friday – 09:00 – 17:30. We are happy to accommodate flexible working requests that applicants may have.

Salary Depending on previous experience and qualifications the salary banding for this role is between £30,000 – £32,000.

Person Specification We are looking for an individual that has a passion for training and the drive to succeed. Essential Requirements for the Role:

  • Assessor qualification (D32/33, A1, CAVA).
  • A good standard of general education including Maths and English at GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent).
  • Occupational competence in a supervisory role for at least 2 years.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding.
  • Knowledge of End Point Assessment.
  • Knowledge of Apprenticeship funding rules.
  • Comprehensive IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage own time effectively.
  • A ‘want to learn’ and ‘can do’ attitude.
  • A passion for people development.
  • The ability to motivate others to yield positive results.
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable.
  • Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Full Driver’s License, use of own car and willing to travel (including motorways).
  • A sense of humour.

Desirable Requirements for the Role:

  • Internal Quality Assurance qualification (Level 4 IQA, D34, V1).
  • Knowledge and/or previous experience of Ofsted inspections.
  • Confidence in soft selling skills (to attract new Apprentices to programme).
