We have an exciting opportunity for a planning lawyer with significant experience of compulsory purchase to join our Planning Team. The team handles a large variety of high-quality work for both private and public sector clients.
• Advising on strategic residential and New Town projects
• Advising on planning due diligence for land acquisitions and real estate finance matters
• Day to day planning advisory work for a range of clients, including landowners. promoters, major housebuilders, and public bodies
• Acting for local planning authorities and developers in relation to planning and highway agreements
• Advising local authorities and landowners on CPOs
The national team works collaboratively across offices, undertaking high quality work in a supportive environment. Due to a strong pipeline of work and significant projects there is a need to recruit an additional experienced specialist planning solicitor to our national Planning team. Candidates will be considered from Principal Associate to Partner level, depending on experience.
The role is ideally based in our Birmingham or Liverpool offices but we will also consider candidates for Manchester, Leeds or Newcastle. The firm supports and encourages flexible working arrangements.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Work collaboratively with members of the Planning team and wider firm to meet client needs, providing clients with commercially focussed planning advice and guidance. The role may involve some travel in view the projects we undertake
• To have conduct of matters and work as part of the team on larger projects
• Help support growth for the Planning practice both nationally and in the relevant location
About You
You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work.
We also require you to have/be:
- 5+ years’ post qualification experience in Planning law
- Experience of advising on CPO matters
- Technically strong with good communication skills
- Good time management and organisation skills
- A team player, who has the ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- Flexible approach
