About your new role

Our specialist practitioners act exclusively for the police service, representing various forces across England and Wales. As the largest dedicated police legal team in the country and a \”Chambers and Partners\” Band 1 ranked defendant police law team, we have been involved in high-profile cases over the past 20+ years.

We are recruiting a 0-2 year PQE Solicitor to join our Police Claims team in London, Liverpool, or Manchester.

This is a hybrid role; attendance at the office is expected at least 2-3 days per week.

Initially, you will assist in defending civil claims within the national Police Claims team, handling a variety of cases for police forces. Depending on your experience, you may start managing your own caseload under supervision. Your initial responsibilities include:

1. Assisting fee earners with case management, legal research, client reporting, and court preparation;
2. Attending client meetings, witness conferences, and court hearings to support fee earners;
3. Assisting with instructions to counsel and experts;
4. Responding to correspondence and enquiries from clients and other parties promptly and accurately;
5. Meeting financial and chargeable hours targets;
6. Supporting business development activities.

This list is not exhaustive; additional duties within the role may be required. You will also ensure compliance with Weightmans and client policies, working in line with our values.
