About your new role
Provide new business development support to Partners in allocated client segments to drive profitable growth and revenue generation in line with the overall financial objectives of the firm. Provide practical assistance to the Partners, so key business development opportunities with targets can be converted into revenue. Identify and develop opportunities for new work whether that be from new prospects in existing sectors, new market sectors, cross selling to existing clients. Provide coaching support for Partners on new business development and sales activity and identify any training needs. Collaborate closely with segment heads and their lead Partners to implement and manage agreed new business development initiatives, for example preparation of client segment, sector or regional business plans, quarterly review of plans to drive performance, and identifying support required to achieve client plans including training needs. Support the relevant product teams with segment and sector insights. Targeting new clients, including identification, research, prioritisation, and conversion. Manage new business pipeline, working with Partners to ensure pipeline targets are effectively identified, prioritised and converted into revenue. Explore lead generation activity, evaluating opportunities and advising on the most profitable opportunities. Identify growth opportunities within market sectors or regions. Introduce measures to monitor the effectiveness of all new business development activity. Key account management for the generator programme to set and deliver New Business objectives. Develop and maintain a suite of sales collateral to support the delivery of pipelined opportunities and clients in the generator programme. Continuously review the New Business Dashboard to ensure MI is fit for purpose and driving growth. Support the Bids team with knowledge of prospects and markets for tenders, pitches, and presentations for relevant client segments in line with standard operating procedures. Work on behalf of the firm to develop links with external organisations who are potential introducers, referrers, or clients. Work closely with the Marketing team using client and market insights to develop campaigns which engage prospects, enhance market positioning and reputation of the client segment and lead to profitable new business revenue. Capture and document learnings from new business activities and initiatives and share across New Business team, Marketing team and segments to enhance future activities. Development and line management of a New Business Sales Executive.
About You
You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. We also require you to have/be:
- Senior new business development executive ready to take the next step
- At least five years business development experience in an Insurance B2B services environment, including experience working within professional services.
- A proven track record of developing new business.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Commercially aware and astute.
- A self-starter, who can work on own initiative and is proactive in developing ideas and solutions.
- Well developed project and time management skills plus organisational skills.
- Well developed persuading and influencing skills, with the ability to manage at a senior level without having direct line responsibility.
- Confident, assertive and resilient.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Flexible – the role will be a mix of internal support to Partners and client facing activity so travel across Weightmans offices and to client offices will be required.
