The MDM System Manager is responsible for establishing, owning, and scaling the organisation’s Master Data Management capability. This includes leading the selection, implementation, and ongoing operation of an enterprise MDM platform, defining associated governance and operating models, and ensuring high-quality, trusted master data across core business domains. The role will work closely with business stakeholders, data owners, IT, and external suppliers to embed MDM as a foundational data capability that supports operational efficiency, reporting, analytics, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making.

Key Duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of the organisation’s MDM capability, from initial setup through to business-as-usual operation.
  • Own the end-to-end MDM lifecycle, including matching and merging rules, survivorship, hierarchy management, golden record creation and reference data management.
  • Manage the selection, onboarding, and ongoing optimisation of the MDM software platform.
  • Define and implement MDM governance processes, including data ownership, stewardship, issue management, and change control.
  • Partner with business data owners and subject-matter experts to define master data standards, policies, and quality rules.
  • Oversee data quality monitoring, remediation processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Integrate the MDM platform with downstream systems, data warehouses, reporting, and analytics platforms.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for MDM-related issues, enhancements, and roadmap planning.
  • Manage third-party vendors and implementation partners where required.
  • Build and mature the MDM operating model, including documentation, runbooks, and team capability.
  • Support regulatory, audit, privacy, and data retention requirements relating to master data.
  • Establish and manage a MDM team.
