Our Casualty team provides a full, expert service in defending public liability (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims across the private sector and the public sector. Weightmans' team is second-to-none in providing defendant litigation services in these and other specialist Casualty areas. We operate on a national basis with dedicated commercial insurance and public sector teams and as part of our wider specialism we have a dedicated Casualty Fraud team. We receive direct instructions from both insureds and insurers.
We are currently recruiting for a Solicitor with 1-3 years PQE to work both independently on their own caseload and closely alongside senior case handlers. We are looking for someone with an eye for detail who is comfortable managing the high quantity of documents associated with each case. This is an excellent opportunity to build strong client relationships and really make your mark. The role can be varied and we would like someone who can adapt to change and proactively solve problems.
Your Key Duties and Responsibilities Will Include:
- Running a case load of litigated claims, dealing with both liability and quantum
- Managing disclosure documents
- Assisting senior fee earners with various tasks including general case management, legal research, drafting of witness statements, reports to clients and preparation for court hearings
- Attending client meetings and court hearings
- Assisting with the instruction of Counsel and experts
- Responding promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries from clients and other parties, with and without supervision
- Achieving set financial and chargeable targets
- Supporting the team’s business development activities
