The Regulatory Department is one of the largest in the country and is recognised by clients and other lawyers as being one of the best. We advise clients across all sectors including health, public sector, corporations and individuals.

Our Regulatory Healthcare Advisory team is a vibrant specialist department. We provide advice on all aspects of regulatory healthcare law, for organisations such as hospital trusts and care homes, as well as regulated individuals. The work is broad in nature including inquests, Deprivation of Liberty, Court of Protection as well as general advisory matters and prosecutions by the CQC.

The healthcare sector is fast moving and the challenge of working for our clients provides very interesting work. The successful candidate will be highly motivated to develop their own and our teams’ practices. We provide a supportive environment in which to work.

The role is to assist senior case handlers with the preparation of cases and attend meetings and hearings as required.

The primary responsibility is to work with senior fee earners on their cases – tasks include:

  • Drafting letters of approach/instruction to experts,
  • Seeking records, preparing chronologies, tracing and interviewing witnesses, collating disclosure.
  • Completing client MI procedures/databases
  • Achieve set financial and chargeable hours targets
  • Ensure relevant deadlines, quality measures and KPIs are adhered to
  • Comply with relevant policies and procedures
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values

Previous experience as a Paralegal is desirable, as is a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. We also require you to have:

  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and timescales
  • Ability to work to client SLA and KPIs
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Excellent written and organisation skills
  • Excellent time management skills
