Senior Insurance Solicitor in Glasgow

About your new roleOur Defender Insurance team provides a full, expert service in defending public (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims, across the private and the public sector. Weightmans' team is second-to-none in providing litigation defence services in these and other specialist Casualty areas. We operate on a national basis with dedicated commercial insurance, motor, disease, regulatory and public sector teams and as part of our wider specialism we have a dedicated Casualty Fraud team. You will be working in our dedicated insurance team based out of Glasgow with your own varied caseload of pre and litigated EL/PL claims, Motor, Disease, and will assist with high value and complex claims. We also act in regulatory misconduct matters, together with HSE investigations, fatal accident inquiries and in the field of professional indemnity claims. We receive direct instructions from both insureds and insurers, together with local authorities. You will be required to be ready and willing to assist with supervision and development of junior fee earners. Main duties and responsibilitiesHandling predominantly PI cases including EL, PL and Disease and MotorWorking as part of a team providing a comprehensive range of legal advice and representation to the team's clientsAssisting the Partners with their cases, client development, client training, networking and potentially public speaking where requiredAssisting with supervision and development of junior handlersCompleting MI procedures as and when requiredAchieving set financial and chargeable targetsEnsuring relevant deadlines, SLAs, quality measures and KPI's are adhered toComplying with relevant policies and proceduresWorking in accordance with Weightmans' valuesYou may also be required to carry out tasks that fall within the wider remit of the role. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks.
