About your new role
Weightmans is a top 40 ranked law firm. We are seeking an Inquest solicitor to join our expanding Regulatory Healthcare Advisory team. The team offers expert advice on health-based regulatory matters and proceedings, including inquests, Court of Protection applications, Mental Health Tribunals, and prosecutions by Care Quality Commission. You will manage a caseload of inquest files for NHS trusts, care homes and other organisations, and may also work on broader healthcare advisory matters. The role is primarily based in the Midlands, with occasional national travel.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of inquest files.
- Attend inquest hearings at court, including travel.
- Advocate at pre‑inquest review hearings and inquests.
- Meet with clients and witnesses in preparation for court hearings.
- Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values.
- Perform additional duties within the wider remit of the role in accordance with firm and client policies and procedures.
About you
Essential qualifications
- Qualified solicitor with 2–10 years PQE.
- Advocacy experience.
- Willingness to develop advocacy skills.
- Inquest experience.
