About your new role
Our Casualty team provides a full, expert service in defending public (PL) and employers\’ liability (EL) claims, across the private and public sectors. Weightmans\’ team is renowned for defendant litigation services in these and other specialist Casualty areas. We operate nationally with dedicated commercial insurance and public sector teams, including a Casualty Fraud team.
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Solicitor with 5+ years PQE to join our Casualty Fraud Team in Manchester.
In this role, you will manage your own caseload of predominantly fast-track claims (and/or multi-track depending on experience), handling instructions from both insureds and insurers. Our fraud identification system supports internal referrals and advisory services across a range of cases involving commercial, public sector, and insurance clients nationwide.
You will oversee the day-to-day management of your cases, liaising with clients, opponents, courts, witnesses, and conducting liability investigations. We also have a dedicated team to undertake intelligence searches and counter-fraud enquiries beyond the scope of client handling.
Types of law/responsibilities include:
- Predominantly PI including EL, PL, and Highways
- Housing disrepair
- Property damage
- Completing MI procedures as required
- Achieving financial and chargeable targets
- Adhering to deadlines, SLAs, quality standards, and KPIs
- Compliance with policies and procedures
- Upholding Weightmans’ values

About You
You will be a qualified Solicitor with a genuine interest in this area of work. The role is varied, so flexibility and adaptability are essential. Additionally, you should have:
- Experience managing defendant EL/PL casualty claims
- Experience handling defendant EL/PL fraud claims (desirable)
- 5+ years PQE
- Interest in claims validation and fraud
- Knowledge of PL, EL, Highways, and Housing Law
- Experience managing your own casualty caseload
- Strong drafting skills
- Influencing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
