Overview
In this role you will help grow Weightmans’ Family Law practice in the North West, handling a varied caseload with supervision. You will work closely with the head of department to deliver excellent, client-focused service. You’ll advise on divorce, financial remedies and private children matters, while building strong client relationships and contributing to business development. Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload in family law (divorce, financial remedy, private children) with supervision
- Provide clear, practical, client-focused legal advice and explain options and processes
- Build and maintain strong client relationships with empathy and professionalism
- Prepare correspondence, court documents, witness statements and other legal documents
- Assist with negotiations and ADR, support litigation when needed
- Manage deadlines, progression and admin requirements
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on family law developments
- Collaborate with colleagues to grow the practice
- Support business development activities and marketing where appropriate
- Ensure cost-effective, commercially aware advice aligned with client objectives
Key requirements
- NQ to 3 years PQE
- Grounding in divorce, financial remedies and children matters
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex issues clearly
- Exceptional client care, empathy, discretion, sensitivity
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Commercial awareness and cost-effective legal advice
- Pragmatic, solutions-focused with negotiation and non-court dispute resolution experience; confident in supporting litigation
- Independent work style with initiative and ability to seek guidance when needed
- Resilience and professionalism in sensitive cases
- Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn about complex financial arrangements, pensions, trusts, business interests, international aspects and children matters
