The Real Estate team at Weightmans is a nationally recognised, full-service legal practice supporting clients across the entire property lifecycle. As part of a top 40 UK law firm with deep sector expertise and a collaborative culture, the team delivers pragmatic, commercially focussed advice to private individuals, businesses, public bodies, developers, landowners and estates.

Accountable to the Real Estate Head of Client Delivery for:

  • Proactively seeking ways to help our lawyers raise external profile / promote our expertise.
  • Playing a significant role in the promotion and recognition of our legal services / expertise externally.
  • Proactively searching for ‘what’s soon’ (i.e. present day to next 12 months), ‘what’s next’ (i.e. beyond the next 12 months to 3 years) and awareness raising in its broadest sense.
  • Identifying and writing articles and thought leadership reports on any pertinent changes / market awareness for internal and external use.
  • Establishing, maintaining and developing a network of contacts in the market affairs / knowledge / legal professional support community.
  • Creating and delivering training and guidance to your Department.
  • Monitoring legal tech products and developments.
  • Providing technical advice, legal and market research.
  • Maintaining, developing and continually enhancing the firm’s Knowledge content on Nimbus.
  • Writing and editing guidance notes, checklists and providing practical advice to the lawyers within your Department.
  • Maintaining, updating and promoting the use of precedent / template documents and letters within your Department.
  • Supporting on a wide range of projects as and when required.
  • Maintaining personal professional development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Degree-qualified or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • UK-qualified lawyer and/or Real Estate specialist, with a strong academic or professional background.
  • At least seven years’ experience within private practice (experience gained in other relevant environments will also be considered).
  • Experience in delivering knowledge management content to legal professionals is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Strong and up-to-date legal and market knowledge, with an understanding of the legal community and extensive experience in Real Estate.
  • Proven ability to clearly explain, write about and present legal and market developments, including case law, legislation and procedural changes, in a way that supports learning.
  • Ability to identify issues, trends and areas of relevance proactively.
  • Awareness of knowledge management tools and resources, with a willingness to expand expertise in this area.
  • Understanding of process and continuous improvement methodologies, or an openness to learn and apply them.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to adapt style to different audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective, collaborative working relationships across teams.
  • Creative and lateral thinker, able to contribute innovative and practical solutions.
  • Reliable and thorough approach to work, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage competing demands and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Effective time-management and organisational skills.
  • Confident using IT systems and digital tools.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to other offices, as required for the role.
