Our national Real Estate team delivers a comprehensive range of legal and advisory services across all aspects of commercial property for both public and private sector clients. Our expertise includes advising on and drafting heads of terms, development agreements, and associated construction, planning and site-disposal matters. We also act on funding arrangements, freehold transfers and due diligence processes, as well as the grant, assignment and renewal of leases. Our clients include major retailers, leisure operators, regional developers, local authorities, universities and social housing providers. We support projects of all scales, from £100 million city-centre regeneration schemes to smaller bespoke developments. Our work also includes managing large property portfolios for occupiers, investors and utility providers, along with providing real estate support to our corporate and banking teams. We regularly advise on LTA 1954 renewals, easements, covenants, service charges and land registration matters.
Responsibilities
- Manage your own caseload of Real Estate matters
- Support senior team members across a wide range of transactions
- Draft, review and prepare real estate documentation
- Liaise effectively with internal colleagues, clients and external stakeholders
- Produce high-quality work that meets professional standards and client expectations
- Manage your workload efficiently to meet deadlines
- Complete MI procedures as required
- Work towards agreed financial and chargeable targets
- Ensure compliance with deadlines, quality standards and KPIs
- Adhere to internal policies and procedures
The above is not intended to be exhaustive and you will be expected to perform other duties and responsibilities within the wider remit of the role. As a Paralegal you will also ensure that you comply with Weightmans' and client policies and procedures, and consistently work in accordance with our values.
Qualifications
- You will have previous experience and a genuine, demonstrable interest in real estate work, with a strong desire to develop specialist expertise in this area.
- 0-3 years' PQE with experience in, or a strong enthusiasm for, real estate work
- Familiarity with landlord and tenant matters and property management work (experience supporting development matters is an advantage)
- Strong technical knowledge and a sound academic background
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
- Confident written and verbal communication abilities
- Strong IT and accurate document-production skills
- Effective organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise work
- The ability to work to strict deadlines and meet targets
