We're recruiting for a Graduate / Junior Mechanical Engineer on behalf of a well-established engineering business that provides specialist services across the UK and internationally. The company supports clients across sectors including power generation, renewables, utilities, manufacturing, rail, marine, infrastructure, and defence, helping them maintain, repair, upgrade, and install critical electrical and mechanical equipment.

As part of their continued growth, particularly within the renewable energy sector and large-scale hydro power projects, they are looking to bring an ambitious engineer into their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to develop their skills while working alongside experienced specialists on complex engineering projects.

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible for UK security clearance and hold a full British passport.

The Role

As a Graduate / Junior Mechanical Engineer, you'll support the design, manufacture, repair, and improvement of rotating machinery and associated equipment. You'll work closely with experienced engineers, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle while building your technical knowledge and practical engineering skills. This role offers excellent training and development opportunities, making it ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career within a highly specialised engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the mechanical design of motors, generators, rotors, stators, and associated equipment
  • Support upgrade, refurbishment, and retrofit projects
  • Produce engineering calculations, technical reports, and documentation
  • Work alongside senior engineers on project delivery and customer requirements
  • Assist with factory and site-based testing activities
  • Support machinery inspections, diagnostics, and condition assessments
  • Review engineering drawings and collaborate with CAD teams

About You

  • Degree qualified (or due to graduate soon) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Placement, internship, project, or industry experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • An interest in rotating machinery, power generation, renewable energy, or heavy engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical information
