Job Title: Project Manager

Location: Hampshire

Salary: £60,000 – £65,000

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Engineering team, overseeing the design and development of cutting-edge projects across various industries. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification, while managing resources, risks, and stakeholder expectations effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery – Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of projects, ensuring they meet specifications, budget, and timelines.
  • Project Planning & Monitoring – Create and maintain project plans, track key milestones, allocate resources efficiently, and monitor costs against project budgets.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Risk Management – Identify, document, assess, and mitigate project-related risks, escalating concerns to senior management when necessary.
  • Specification & Documentation – Ensure project specifications and system requirements are clearly defined, documented, and reviewed, leveraging expert resources as needed.
  • Testing & Validation – Develop and oversee functional, environmental, and production test procedures to validate system performance, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance – Ensure all projects comply with internal and external standards and procedures.
  • Project Reviews & Reporting – Lead and participate in internal and external reviews, ensuring action points are addressed and projects progress smoothly.
  • Customer Support & Training – Provide remote support during installation and commissioning phases and facilitate training sessions for internal teams and customers.
  • Process Improvement – Conduct project closeout reviews, gathering lessons learned to refine internal processes and methodologies.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Degree (BSc/BEng or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline (minimum 2:1).
  • Project management certification (e.g., APM PMQ, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
  • Experience managing product development projects and an understanding of product lifecycle stages.
  • Proven experience engaging with customers and senior stakeholders, ensuring high levels of service and communication.
  • Expertise in coordinating multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex projects.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience managing defence-related projects.
